FAQs: Filter Water Bottle - Ech2o™
1. Do your bottles or caps contain Bisphenol A (BPA)?
Stainless Steel naturally contains No BPA, which is one reason it makes such a great material for EcoUsable bottles. As for the plastic tops we use only BPA free Polypropylene #5 (PP#5) plastic. Our bottles and caps are all 100% BPA free!
2. How do I clean my Ech2o™ filter water bottles?
Ech2o™ filtered stainless steel water bottles should be hand washed with warm/hot soapy water. For a deep cleaning every week, rinse with white distilled vinegar or baking soda. This method of cleaning will sanitize the bottle and provide fresh tasting water everyday.
Washing loop caps in the dishwasher is not recommended because H2O can squeeze itself into the cap. Sport tops are dishwasher safe and can be cleaned with mild soap. Ech2o filters are NOT dishwater safe and should be cleaned as directed by the instructions included with your bottle or replacement filter.
Keeping filters Dry when not used for more than two days, is a good practice especially in warm climate - just like we avoid drinking still water kept warm for more than a day or two.
3. Can I put my EcoUsable bottle in the freezer?
To ensure that your bottle doesn't spring a leak you shouldn't place your bottle in the freezer with water in it. The expansion of the water as it turns to ice could compromise the integrity of the seams that hold your bottle together! Freezing your bottle will void your bottle's warranty.
4. How much liquid does the Ech2o™ filtered stainless steel water bottle hold?
- The 25 oz. Ech2o™ and the 18 oz. Ech2o™ filtered stainless steel water bottles provide 22oz. and 16oz of drinkable filtered water per use respectively, due to the size of the filter.
5. What liquids can I carry in my Ech2o™ filtered bottle?
The filtration technology in our Ech2o™ filters will only filter fresh water and/or tap water. The Ech2o™ filter should never be used for salt water or any other form of liquid, as it could damage the filter and void the warranty.
6. Can I put hot liquids in my Ecousable™ or Ech2o™ water bottles?
No. Ecousable™ stainless steel water bottles and Ech2o™ filtered stainless steel water bottles are single walled and not for use with HOT liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level.
7. Which bottles are your Ech2o™ replacement filter compatible with?
The Ech2o™ replacement filters are ONLY compatible with our Ech2o™ filtered stainless steel water bottles. The 25 oz. replacement filter fits the 25 oz. Ech2o filtered bottle and the 18 oz. replacement filter fits the 18 oz. Ech2o bottle.

10. What is stainless steel?
EcoUsable bottles are made from 304 grade stainless steel. You'll also hear 304 grade stainless steel called 18/8 stainless steel as it has a minimum of 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel content. 304 grade steel is highly corrosion resistant, inert, sanitary, and easy to clean. Due to its safe properties you can find 304 grade steel being used throughout the food industry worldwide.
11. How is a stainless steel bottle different from an aluminum bottle?
Aluminum is known to leach various chemicals which are bad for your health. To counter leaching, many aluminum bottle companies will line the inside of their bottles with an epoxy, ceramic, plastic, or other unknown coating. These coatings have been known to leach or crack over the life of the bottle. We feel it's safest to know exactly what is coming into contact with your water. This is why EcoUsable only uses safe, non-leaching, and durable 304 grade stainless steel.
12. What is the black mat on the bottom of my EcoUsable bottle made of?
One attribute people love about EcoUsable bottles are the soft non-slip black mats on the bottom of our bottles. The material we use is a safe non-toxic EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate). EVA is a common material that is used in many things including baby teething toys.
